The main issue surrounding Affirmative Action is racial and gender inequalities. With this, we must also look at the visibility of the problem. For some people, they might have grown up in a diverse community where discrimination was not very common. For others, they might have grown up in an area where the polarization of classes and races was obvious, and they felt the toll of discrimination on a daily basis. The fact is that whether we can see it or not, discrimination still exists within our society.

Other issues to think about… (I would have liked to explore these issues more in-depth)

What about people who are of mixed races and qualify both as a minority and a non-minority?

What about white children who grow up in poverty with poor education?  Do they fall under Affirmative Action policies?  How are they given a chance for equal opportunities?

How do you think most minorities feel about affirmative action?  Do they feel grateful or insulted?
